Veva Linaza (esp)
Artista, docente e investigadora en el Departamento de Pintura de la Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU). Licenciada en Pintura (1997) y Escultura (1998). Se doctoró en Pintura en esa misma Universidad en 2008.
Veva Linaza ha realizado exposiciones tanto individuales como colectivas en Bilbao, Madrid y Barcelona. Ha podido mostrar su obra internacionalmente en Hasselt (Bélgica), Covilhâ (Portugal) y Chongqing (China), en donde fue profesora y artista invitada en la Universidad de Arte de Sichuan. Ha disfrutado de becas como la beca de Creación de la Diputación Foral de Vizcaya, la beca de residencia artística en la Fundación BilbaoArte o la beca del Instituto Vasco Etxepare para la movilidad de artistas vascos, entre otras.
Sus últimas exposiciones individuales han tenido lugar en la Galería Aire y en la Galería Juan Manuel Lumbreras, ambas en Bilbao.
Su pintura se complementa con la gráfica y el vídeo como modos distintos de posicionarse ante el proceso de la pintura. Estas herramientas le ayudan a rescatar y evidenciar las partes que entiende como “supervivientes” de la pintura y que se “escapan” de la superficie del lienzo. Estos puntos de fuga le permiten situar a la practica pictórica en el contexto de la investigación. Ha expuesto su trabajo calcográfico en la Feria Internacional de Grabado FIG Bilbao en 2021 con la Galería La Taller.

Veva Linaza has held both individual and collective exhibitions in Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona. She has been able to show her work internationally in Hasselt (Belgium), Covilhâ (Portugal) and Chongqing (China), where she was a professor and guest artist at the Sichuan Art University. She has received scholarships such as the Vizcaya Provincial Council Creation scholarship, the BilbaoArte Foundation artistic residency scholarship or the Etxepare Basque Institute scholarship for the mobility of Basque artists, among others.
Her latest individual exhibitions have taken place at Aire Gallery and at Juan Manuel Lumbreras Gallery, both of them in Bilbao.
Her painting is complemented by graphics and video as different ways of positioning herself before the process of painting. These tools help her to rescue and highlight the parts that she understands as “survivors” of painting and that “escape” from the surface of the canvas. These vanishing points allow her to situate the pictorial practice in the context of research. She has exhibited her chalcographic work at the International Printmaking Fair FIG Bilbao in 2021 with La Taller Gallery.
